Jiribam, May 15 2024:
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) Jiribam District Council raised grave concern over the pitiable condition of 50-Bedded Jiribam District Hospital, Uchathol.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held today in connection with the condition of the hospital, DESAM Jiribam District Council president Th Santosh urged the authorities concerned to take up necessary measures for efficient functioning of the hospital.
Santosh highlighted that the smooth functioning of the hospital is being hindered due to acute shortage of staff and other imminent healthcare facilities.
The student body came to know of the pitiable conditions when its members went to take stock of the situation today, he said.
He went on to inform that the doctor transferred to the hospital has been utilized in other areas recently.
For instance, only one staff was assigned duty at the OPD counter and at the same time collecting data for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office today causing inconveniences to the patients who have come for treatment, he said.
Furthermore, he expressed concern that there is no Medical Superintendent and Medical Officer (MO) In-charge to administer the functioning of the hospital.
Considering the hindrance in its efficient functioning and the plights of the locals of the district, Santosh sought immediate attention of the authorities concerned to address these pressing issues.
