Under joint aegis of Oinam Cultural Education and Artistic Nosegay and Prospective Repertory Theatre, Manipur, a 45-day long workshop on 'Theatrical Rejuvenation on Gouralila' would be held at Thambalmarik College from May 22 .
To be held under the sponsorship of National School of Drama, New Delhi, the workshop would go on till July 6 and it would be attended by resource persons coming from both within and outside the State.
Announcing this during a press conference held at the auditorium of Oinam Ibohal Polytechnic at Keishampat today, Camp Director of National School of Drama, New Delhi T Sila Devi observed Gouralila was an inseparable art form of the Manipuri society at one time.
However, starting from around 1940, this art form seems to be losing its foothold.
So the proposed workshop aims to revive this dying art form through transcription of its songs, music and out the relevant social elements in it, Sila explained.
Apart from local resource persons like National awardee Bridasabi, Guru S Narayan Nanda Sharma, Yumnam Budhi, RK Sanayaima, Mairembam Mema, Th Biren, Ng Ranjit Singh, S Dhiren, etc, Vidyapati Phukan and Aniradha Khutwad from other side Manipur would be participating in the workshop, Sila informed.
