Imphal, April 15 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited the ongoing construction site of the Imphal Railway Station at Yurembam, Imphal West on Tuesday and took stock of the progress of the much-awaited 111 Km long Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal Railway project.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by MLAs Dr Sapam Ranjan, Sorokhaibam Rajen, Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Anurag Bajpai, Commissioner to Chief Minister N Ashok Kumar, Director Transport Kh Diana and senior Government officials.

Yumnam Khemchand was briefed by an official of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on the progress of the construction of Imphal Railway Station and the current status of the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal Railway project.

The official informed the Chief Minister that the project is targeted to be completed by December, 2028 .

The Chief Minister also visited the site of Tunnel No 12 of the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal Railway project located at Sangaithel and interacted with the concerned officials regarding the progress ofthe ongoingwork.

Khemchand directed officials to maintain momentum on the project and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
