Dr Lenin's guide to mental wellness: 'Mental Health for Everyone' launched

A significant literary event took place today at the Dr Kamal Hall in the Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, where three new books were officially launched.
The launched books include two titles by the renowned psychiatrist, Dr Rajkumar Lenin Singh: "Mental Health for Everyone" and "Eidi Ngaosu Ngaodana".
Additionally, a poetry collection titled "The Songs of the Nongin", authored by Ningthemba Chingsubam, was also released.
The event, organised by the Association of CC School Alumni (ACCSA), featured a distinguished presidium, including Ng Uttam Singh, Joint Secretary (Tribal Affairs & Hills), Manipur; Dr Sh Gyaneshwar Sharma, former Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS; Dr I Deven Singh, Professor, Department of Anatomy, RIMS; Fr Joseph Nellisseril SDB, Headmaster, Don Bosco High School, Langjing; Lambamayum Bimol Singh, Joint Director, Manipur Legislative Assembly; and Laishram Guna Singh, president of ACCSA .
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lenin mentioned that "Eidi Ngaosu Ngaodana" is published in both Meitei Mayek and Bengali scripts and that the current release is its 6th edition due to popular demand.
The English version is available as "Mental Health for Everyone", said Dr Lenin while emphasizing that the book avoids medical jargon, making it easily accessible and understandable for the general public.
As a doctor focused on mental well-being, Dr Lenin explained that the books aim to help people improve their mental health and act as a guide.
He noted that a common societal issue is the hesitation or shame associated with seeking treatment for mental illness, and his books are intended to help reduce this stigma
and apprehension.
