Imphal, September 13 2014 :
Due to the breakdown of an electric transformer substation at Jiribam Sub-Division, people of Jiribam and Tamenglong have been facing a very difficult time as there has been no electricity in the area for over 6 days now.
The Sub-Station for 20MVA transformer 132/32 KV located at Sub-Station Construction Division No 1, Jiribam Sub-Division under Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) broke down on September 8 which has not been fixed till date.
Apart from other professionals, businessmen have been dealing with great loss due to the non availability of power supply.
Meanwhile, condemning the MSPCLs' irresponsibility, president of DESAM Local Council, Jiribam, K Babuloo questioned, "whose fault is it? Who are to be blamed for this power failure ? The power failure is not only affecting the students but also the small businessmen.
The Grade IV staff of the concerned department are the only ones available at the Jiribam office while the senior officials are sitting idle at Imphal." He urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter and fix the problem at the earliest.
Able technicians must be employed at the Jiribam Electricity Station to prevent such power glitches in future, he added.
Sources said two Section Officers had visited Jiribam on September 10 to restore power supply at Jiribam and other affected areas of Tamenglong.
However, due to problems in Buchholze Relay, the officers were unable to bring back power supply.
People of Jiribam and Tamenglong might have to do without electricity for few more days, until the Buchholze Relay problem is fixed, the source added.
