UCM urges Government

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has urged the State Government to renovate Manipuri Rajbari,thepalace of Maharaja Gambhir Singh located at Sylhet in Bangladesh.
UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam made the appeal during a meeting held as part of their campaign to trace the history of Meetei diaspora settled outside Manipur.
The event was held at Manipuri Rajbari.
Led by its president, the UCM team also conducted a social service at the historical site today.
Addressing the gathering, Joychandra Konthoujam spoke about the significance of Rajbari in Manipuri history.
Highlighting the dilapidated condition of the palace, the UCM president stressed on the need for the Bangladesh and Manipur Government to cooperate and renovate Manipuri Rajbari.
In addition, he urged the State Government to communicate with the officials concerned and ensure preservation of the archaeological site as a protected area.
Notable Meetei personalities from Bangladesh, namely, Ashok Sharma, Maibam Uttam Singh, Y Nipendra Singh, Kh Samendra and UCM vice president Yk Dhiren also attended the meeting.
