150 years of Vande Mataram commemorated

Nambol AC Th Basantakumar Singh has encouraged people to give importance to Manipur's State song "Sanaleibak Manipur" similar to the way great importance is accorded to "Vande Mataram" .
He made the remark as the chief guest at an event commemorating 150 years of the National song "Vande Mataram" along with hosting the Vidhan Sabha Sammelan and Aatmanirbhar Sankalp Abhiyaan organised by the BJP Nambol Mandal at its complex.
Stressing on the importance of the commemorative event, Th Basantakumar said the National song made a significant contribution in India's freedom struggle by inspiring people.
Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in light of the British empire's oppression, persecution and discrimination of Indians, added the MLA.
He urged people to recognize the significance of both the National song and State song "Sanaleibak Manipur" .
On another note, the Nambol AC MLA stated that to create an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, people should build themselves up, develop the economy and promote and use local products.
Bringing Manipur on the path of progress and making Aatmanirbhar Manipur a reality is only possible through increased focus on tourism, culture, skill development and farming.
He also assured that the State will welcome a popular Government in the near future.
Other dignitaries present at the event include BJP Nambol Mandal president A Jiten; BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president L Minabanta; BJP Manipur Pradesh State secretary A Bikram; BJP Bishnupur District president Ng Sovana Devi and BJP Kisan Morcha president Rajesh Thiyam as presidium members.
