Resident assaulted, JAC seeks public clarification from perpetrators

Thoubal, October 11 2026: Some individuals allegedly assaulted a resident of Khangabok Mayai Leikai under Thoubal Police Station at the gate of his residence around 8.30 pm yesterday and snatched away the key of his bolero vehicle.

The victim has been identified as Moirangthem Kumarjit son of Sajor Singh.

A joint action committee (JAC) named JAC against the torture to M Kumarjit has been formed in connection with the incident.

Addressing media persons during a press meet held today at Khangabok Mayai Leikai, JAC convenor Moirangthem Premjit alleged that individuals led by Thokchom Thoithoi, son of Thokchom Jadumani, intending candidate from Khangabok AC in the upcoming Assembly Election, VEDSCO Youth Wing convenor and Excellent Foundation Khangabok founder S Manja and L Nagin came in two gypsy vehicles and started assaulting M Kumarjit without any reason and snatched his vehicle key as well.

M Premjit also alleged that the same group of people pelted stones and attacked the resident of S Bimol from the same locality later.

In connection with the said incidents, Premjit said that a meeting has been convened and strongly condemned the incidents.

He urged the individuals concerned to issue a clarification publicly by October 12 and warned that they will be held responsible for any untoward outcome if they failed to issue a clarification on the matter.

It may be noted that a formal complaint has already been registered with Thoubal Police Station regarding yesterday's incident.
