Imphal, June 11 2024: A team of Thawai Mirel would be visiting Jiribam soon to provide relief materials to the people displaced by Kuki aggression.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Thawai Mirel convenor Thongam Dara lamented that no one seems to be thinking on what steps must be taken up even after more than 72 houses have been burnt down, a farmer was murdered mercilessly and an advance security convoy of the Chief Minister was attacked by Kuki militants.

It is a big question whether the CM alone can protect Manipur and what are the 40 or 50 MLAs doing barring the 10 Kuki MLAs, he said.

He said that the Thawai Mirel would send a team to Jiribam to express solidarity to all the displaced people.

Pointing out that the State Government is unable to neutralise Kuki militants at such places like Kangchup, Singda, Kadangband and Phayeng which are quite near to the State capital, Thawai Mirel co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi asked how would the State Govt protect Jiribam from Kuki militants.
