Sensitization / training programme held at Jiribam

Jiribam, April 09 2025:
In an effort to promote sustainable farming practices and enhance the knowledge base of local farmers of the Jiribam district, a team led by Director, RK Khogendrajit Singh, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Government of Manipur organized a comprehensive sensitization session on various departmental schemes and a specialized training program on the scientific rearing of pigs under NLM at Hilghat Community Hall, Jiribam today.
The program aimed to equip farmers with the latest knowledge, techniques, and support schemes available to them, with a special focus on pig farming.
The training highlighted the importance of adopting scientific methods for rearing pigs to ensure healthy livestock, increased productivity, and sustainable farming practices.
Highlighting various departmental schemes, director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, RK Khogendrajit said that under National Livestock Mission, the Department has taken up insurance policy for livestock with National Insurance Company.
He urged the farmers to take benefit of the policy.
The Director also urged the public to vaccinate their livestock and pets for which the department has been facilitating the vaccines for livestock and pets at free of cost.
Later at the technical session, Dr Chirom Nishita Devi stressed on the topic "Livestock Insurance & EDP, Dr Ch Jekendra Singh on "Foot & Mouth Disease", Dr Milan Athokpam on "African Swine Fever", Dr U Dilipkumar on "Rabies", Dr Ch Amita on "Biosecurity Measures" and Dr Ng Saratchandra on "Scientific Farming of Pigs" as resource persons.
The program was also attended by Joint Director, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, L Arunkumar (Admn), Joint Director, L Gojen Singh (Plg), Deputy Director Jiribam, H Usharani Devi and Zilla Parishad Jiribam, Mutum Bina.
