Lamka, April 08 2011:
Students who have enrolled under NIOS in Churachandpur have boycotted the April-May examination of the open school in protest against the withdrawal of the twin examination centres that had existed in the district.
The plan of boycotting the examination has been taken up by a JAC formed by the students and parents of the open school.
Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU) has also endorsed the stand of the JAC.
In a memorandum submitted to the regional director of NIOS, the JAC has alleged that 'the main purpose (of shifting the examination centres out of Churachandpur) is to make money from the students through some unfair means.
They do not accept the identity cards and hall tickets issued by NIOS.
They issue and provide a gate pass to each candidate after charging Rs 50.They have turned the examination centre into business centre by exploiting the students'.
The JAC has also decided to impose bandh on all passenger vehicles on exam days to deter students from appearing in the exam at the newly allotted centres outside the district.
