The Directorate of Handloom & Textiles, Manipur is set to organise the Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX), 2025 from November 8 to 12 at Urban Haat at Nilakuthi after a two year hiatus.
Speaking to the media at the conference hall of the Forest department at Sanjenthong today, Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) Anurag Bajpai announced that the expo will be attended by buyers from 16 countries and four buyer houses.
The participating countries include the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and others from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
He said that MANITEX is an annual calendar programme that began in 2018 but was not organized in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and again in 2023 and 2024 due to the crisis besetting Manipur since May 3, 2023.Anurag said that the theme for this year's MANITEX is "Weaving a Sustainable Future : Manipur's Handloom Heritage to Global Fashion".
The expo aims to showcase the rich and unique textile heritage of Manipur to a global audience and establish a clear roadmap for the inclusive growth of the State's entire textile industry, he said.
Anurag also said that the expo is also strategically designed to enhance local brand recognition on the global stage and nurture export ready entrepreneurs.
The expo will be attended by representatives of well-known designers and exporters, including Idea Nuova, Luxe Living, HePC, and CoFT, he said.
