Imphal, August 04 2025: In a series of intelligence-based operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps with the help of Manipur Police apprehended 15 cadres of hill and other groups and recovered 69 weapons, 16 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades and ammunition between July 26 and Aug 2 from Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West and Imphal East districts.

On July 26, joint operations by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Kongba Maru resulted in the recovery of two looted INSAS rifles, one SLR (looted), and other firearms, said a press release issued by IGAR (S).

On July 27, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos launched a joint operation in Tentha, and apprehended one SOREPA cadre.

Also, a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) was apprehended by Assam Rifles and Special Police Commando Unit, Khabeisoi in a joint operation at Singjamei, Imphal West on the same day.

Additionally, one KCP cadre, Yumnam Kdko, was apprehended from Eshingthembi village, Imphal East On July 28, Indian Army and Manipur Police Commandos (Imphal East), apprehended an active Pambei led UNLF cadre, while attempting extortion with one 0.32 pistol with a magazine, three live rounds, and one mobile handset.

In another operation, a significant cache of weapons were recovered including 4 country-made Pompi guns, one modified heavy mortar, five IEDs, two IEDs, one modified Lathode Gun Type and one .22 Single Barrel Gun.

Further inputs from the jungle area of Nobap near Chanbirok, Imphal West district on July 29 led to the launch of a joint search operation by the Indian Army and Manipur Police Commandos (Imphal West).

On July 29, Assam Rifles and Churachandpur Police recovered 12 weapons including four 9 mm pistols, six single-barrel rifles, one M79 grenade launcher and one .22 rifle along with its magazine in the village of Songpi, Churachandpur during a joint operation.

On the same day, two active cadres of the proscribed KCP were apprehended in Nongada Thongkong, Imphal East with a 9mm pistol, 2 phones, Rs 5200, an Aadhaar card, and a SIM card.

Similarly in the Dampi Ridge area on July 30, arms recoveries were made, including 13 single-barrel guns, one pistol, one Pompi, nine IEDs, one 9mm live round, eight Pompi live rounds, 24 cartridges of 12-gauge ammunition, ten live, three blank .303 rounds, two Baofeng radio sets and three helmets.

In a second operation, three single-barrel guns, one Pompi, four live tear smoke grenades, four live 12-bore cartridges, four Pompi bombs, one live 7.62 mm round and two fired 5.56 mm cases were recovered from miscreants in the forested areas near Tollen and K Kotlen on the fringes of Churachandpur district.

In a third operation conducted on the same day in the hillside area to the north of K Geljang in Churachandpur district, one AK-47 rifle with magazine, one single-barrel shotgun, three Pompei, one Pompei empty shell, three electronic detonators, eight 12-bore live rounds, one IED cap, two Baofeng radio sets, four anklets, two ammunition pouches, three helmets, one harness, and one scale were recovered.

All recoveries were made in joint operations conducted by the Indian Army and Churachandpur Police.

On July 30, Assam Rifles and Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended one active PREPAK (Progressive) cadre in Phayeng, Imphal West along with the recovery of a mobile phone and Aadhaar Card.

On the same day, Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police Commandos apprehended one active KCP cadre in Heingang-Kairang area, Imphal East.

Similarly, in another joint operation with Bishnupur Police Commandos, Assam Rifles apprehended two active cadres of PLA/RPF in Ngaikhong Khunou, Bishnupur district with 2 mobile phones and a Maruti 800 car.

In another operation, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos apprehended two active KYKL cadres in Salungpham Bazar, Thoubal leading to the recovery of a 9mm Pistol, No 36 hand grenade, 3 live rounds, 2 phones and Rs 5,000.In a series of operations conducted on July 28 and July 30, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered one AK-47, one .303 Rifle, eight SBBL, five Pumpis, one Improvised Projectile Launcher, LED Cap, detonators, radio sets and bulletproof gear in Bijang, Songphejang (Kangpokpi) and K Geljang, Thangjing Ridge (Churachandpur).

On the same day, three SBBLs, one .303, and one improvised launcher with rounds were recovered in Songpehjang.

On July 31, an intelligence based joint search operation was launched by Indian Army and Bishnupur Police resulting in the apprehension of self-styled Army Chief of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) with one POCO M4 Pro mobile phone and a Jio SIM.

He allegedly claimed to be operating under its self-styled chairman since joining the outfit in 2013.On August 1, an active PREPAK cadre, Lisham Sanayamba Singh, alias SS Lt Thangjinglamba, was apprehended from Uyumpok Maning Leikai (Imphal East) by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in a joint operation.

On August 2, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos, apprehended two active cadres of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) in Heirok, Thoubal and recovered one 9mm pistol, one Pt 32 pistol, six rounds of mixed ammunition, three mobile phones, one Aadhaar card, and one Hero Maestro scooter from the apprehended persons.
