Jiribam district administration conducts plantation drive

Jiribam, October 02 2025: The Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam, in association with the District Administration, Jiribam on Thursday organized a plantation drive at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Jiribam, as part of the Seva Parv - Nation First @ 75 Campaign.

The event was held under the motto "Let us come together to plant trees and nurture a greener tomorrow" .

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Th Manoranjan Singh, led the plantation drive, emphasizing the importance of green initiatives and community-driven environmental conservation.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam Elangbam Nirmala Chanu highlighted that the plantation drive aims to introduce the mission of "LIFE (Lifestyle of the Environment)", to engage individual in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, to strengthen social networks to bring a change in the climatic landscape, to enhance environmental conservation and promote greenery in the district, foster community participation and collective responsibility towards sustainable development.

Plant species favorable to the climatic conditions of Jiribam District, suitable for the local ecosystem such as Mimusopselengi (Bokul), Delonix regia (Gulmohor) and Podocarpus neriifolius (Jeneri/Nau -U) which are considered as good avenue plant were planted around the DC complex.

The Seva Parv initiative, observed from September 17 to October 2 with creativity and cultural pride focuses on environmental conservation, cleanliness, and community service.

The campaign aligns with the broader goal of promoting sustainable development and community engagement.

The drive saw participation from key officials including Sh Karowng Haopu, Commandant 20 Bn CRPF, Jiribam, Th Manoranjan Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, Nameirakpam Bidyananda Singh, District Information Officer, Bipin Wilson, Dy Commandant 20 Bn CRPF, S Sitaranjit Singh, SDC Jiribam, Biraj Nongthombam, Range Forest Officer, Officials and staff of Jiribam Forest Division.
