Joint monitoring and supervision visit carried out in health centres of Thoubal district

A joint monitoring and supervision visit was carried out by the State and District officials today in Thoubal District at different health centres inclusive of the District Hospital Thoubal regarding Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) screening and standard treatment/care of Diabetes and Hypertension patient.
The team consist of State Nodal Officer NCD & Joint Director Dr Y Premchandra Singh; State Nodal Officer HWC, Dr S Sucheta; SNO Asha Dr W Jubilee; WHO Consultant Dr Valentina; Jhpeigo Consultant Monota Ng and District team led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Y Nokul Singh and DNO, NCD, Thoubal Dr M Vikramjit Singh.
For today, the team visited District Hospital, Thoubal, Primary Health Centre, Khongjom and Ayushman Arogya Mandir Langathel and will continue in all the health facilities of Thoubal district.
It may be noted that under 75x25 target (aimed at screening and providing standard of care for 75 million individuals with hypertension and diabetes by 2025) of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India and as per ongoing NP-NCD program, all citizens of 30 years and above are to be screened annually for diabetes and hypertension.
Standard treatment protocols for Diabetes and Hypertension for Manipur State are already followed in Manipur so that such disease could be properly managed at PHC and HWC (AAM) by the Medical Officers.
The annual screening of diabetes and hypertension will detect many hidden cases and also treat those poor patients who can not afford blood tests and medicines, monthly follow-up of hypertension patients at nearest health & wellness centres has been ongoing.
Free diabetes and hypertension drugs are available at all Government health centres.
The team discussed strengthening the screening program and appreciated the work of ASHA volunteers in motivating the public about healthy lifestyle and their role in screening the population.
NCD clinics are open in all the PHCs.
Serious NCD patients are now managed at District hospitals.
District Hospital Thoubal has a dedicated clinic for COPD (Chronic respiratory disease,), dialysis, ICU and chemotherapy besides NCD clinic and all tests are done free of cost in the hospital.
