Spiritual discipline need of the hour for Christians

Kanggui, January 02 2014: With the festive season in full swing in Kanggui area and the state as well, the spirit of every Christian is filled with joy and happiness and were busy mostly in Church services.

Not only Christians welcomed and celebrated the arri- val of the year 2014, in scale never seen before, but every section of the society joined in the celebration.

With the arrival of 2014, the words "Happy New Year" fills every nook and corner of the town.

Young and old, common man to VIPs, everyone known or unknown, shook hands and exchanged "Happy New Year" words.

Many celebrated the new year with grant feasts, parties, picnics etc., as Christians welcomed the new year by organizing get-togethers in their respective Church campus singing Hymn Songs through out the day.

Interestingly, at Kanggui on December 31 midnight, some people bade farewell to 2013 with continuous gun shots which unfortunately created panic in the town.

Not enough with that, the arrival of 2014 was also welcomed with longer and more audible sound of gun shots.

On the otherhand, large number of people were seen singing Hymn songs on the National Highway, carolling around the town shouting, "Come get the blessing of New Year".

The Christians gathered at the Church to give thanks to the Almighty for giving them an opportunity to be with the New Year.

While speaking at one such gathering at Kanggui Christian Church on New Year morning, Dr Roel Hangshing, Asst.

Professor at NEHU asserted that "Spiritual Disci- pline is the need of the hour for Christian community and the most important quality that a true Christian should possess" .

He continued that due to lack of spiritual discipline among the Christian community many anti-Christian acti- vities occur and the true quality of Christian ways of life could not be seen in the life of today's Christian community.

Dr Roel further averred that Christian community should atleast try to live life with spiritual discipline to become a respectable Christian before adding that spiritual discipline is essential to fructify one's efforts.

"Spiritual Discipline is needed not only for Christian community but it is also vital for every believers of any religion in the world for a lasting peace on Earth", noted Dr Roel adding that spiritual discipline is the best and simplest form of eradicating violence, crimes and others anti social activities.

When everyone is spiritually discipline than only the real peace and harmony will prevail among the people and on this Earth, further expressed Dr Roel Hangshing.

Stressing on importance of Spiritual Discipline, he also drew the attention of every Christian to become spiritually discipline and be the best example to the world.
