Indian Army repairs footbridge, rescue operations conducted

In a swift response, the Indian Army restored connectivity by successfully repairing an important footbridge over Kangvai Nala in Kangvai village of Bishnupur district.
According to a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), the bridge was washed away due to indiscriminate rains during Cyclone Remal on the night of May 27, 2024.The bridge served as a vital link for the villagers, connecting them to their fanning fields and its loss had left the villagers stranded as they were unable to access their fields, crucial for their livelihood.
On request from locals seeking urgent assistance in repairing the bridge, the Indian Army deployed a team to carry out the immediate repairs and restoration.
Despite the high flow of water in the Nala, the dedicated efforts of the Army personnel ensured the restoration of the bridge within a few hours.
The village youth joined hands in assisting in the repair work, showcasing the community spirit and the strong bond between the villagers and the Army.
The villagers of Kangvai expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for their timely and effective intervention in assisting with the call of duty.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles are conducting extensive relief and rescue operations in the flood affected state of Manipur.
Security Forces deployed for internal security swiftly responded to providing immediate relief and support to affected citizens.
Till date, the forces have successfully rescued over 4000 individuals from affected areas in Manipur including over 1500 women and 800 children.
In addition, the forces also distributed food packets and drinking water to ensure that the affected population have basic facilities and essential supplies.
The Army medical teams have also provided treatment to 102 individuals including 55 women and 24 children.
