MSPDCL calls for regularization

Imphal, September 29 2026: The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has called for mandatory regularization of electricity connections of all high density crypto mining operations.

A notice issued by MSPDCL Managing Director M Rabi Singh said that a significant number of unregistered and illegal consumers are drawing utility power to run energy-intensive mining rigs across the State.

Such unauthorized activities severely compromise grid stability, causing localised transformer overloads and frequent power disruptions, it said.

The General Manager has notified all individuals, commercial entities and industrial operators running high- density computational setups to apply for regularization at local divisional sub-offices within seven days.

All active crypto mining setups must submit peak demand (KW/KVA) and certified hardware ratings of rigs, servers, PSUs and cooling apparatus being used to the nearest sub-divisional office of MSPDCL, it said.

The notice said that the power supply to unauthorised high-density computer mining operations are suspended with immediate effect.

It added that connections will only be granted after satisfactory system viability assessments.

The MSPDCL Managing Director has also directed all Deputy General Managers to immediately execute targeted field drives to identify, regularise and recover statutory dues from all energy-intensive mining operations viz; cryptocurrency mining, data processing clusters and high-density compute setups operating within their respective jurisdictions.

The DGMs have also been asked to initiate statutory proceedings against non-compliant operators.

The MSPDCL Managing Director said that all DGMs should submit a compliance and revenue recovery report to his office by October 15, 2026 .
