Dr P Lilabati selected for National Teachers' Award

Imphal, August 26 2026: Dr Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Dance and Music, Manipur University has been selected for National Award to Teachers 2026 .

She will receive the award from President Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5 Teachers' Day.

Assistant Professor Dr P Lilabati is the first to win the National Award to Teachers from the Manipur University.

Dr Lilabati Devi is among 21 teachers from Higher Educational Institutions and Polytechnics across the country selected for the National Award to Teachers 2026 .

She is one of only two awardees from the North East, the other being Prof Ankuran Dutta of Gauhati University, Assam.

The award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a silver medal.

Dr Lilabati has earlier won the Manipur State Kala Akademi Young Talent Award, and is recognized as a top grade artist in Manipuri Classical Dance by the Prasar Bharati.

The Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has congratulated Dr Lilabati on winning the National Award to Teachers.

On Monday, Manipur University Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) Prof RK Hemakumar Singh felicitated Dr Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi.
