'Understand nature'

Imphal, September 25 2026: Rajya Sabha MP A Sharda has stated that safeguarding the environment would not be possible without understanding the nature around us.

She made the statement at the State Environment Conclave 3.0 held at the auditorium of the College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, today.

The programme was organised by Students for Development under the theme "Malem Leikoipung Kanminasi" .

Addressing the function as the chief guest, Sharda, who is also the BJP Manipur president, said that it was encouraging to see students organising such a programme on environmental protection.

She added that awareness of the nature around us is crucial to safeguarding the environment.

Saying that Manipur has been experiencing a warmer climate and it is not a good sign, , she added that collective efforts are needed to protect the environment.

Sharda also said that the Government is working to plant around 20 lakh tree saplings, and appealed to the people to ensure their proper growth and survival.

Further stating that people have been engaging in activities detrimental to the environment, the MP maintained that it is unfortunate that some sections of people are making an issue out of the Government's efforts to prevent deforestation.

She appealed to the people not to cut trees without valid reasons and to extend their support to the Government's efforts to protect the environment.
