Shija Hospitals partners with MPTC for police mental health training

Imphal, September 25 2025:
Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) in collaboration with Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei, successfully conducted a one-day training programme on "Stress Management: Psychological Wellbeing and Mental Health Awareness".
As per a release issued by SHRI, the training was attended by Amakcham Devananda Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, MPTC, along with about 100 police personnel.
The sessions were conducted by Dr Meesha Haorongbam, Consultant Psychiatrist, Shija Hospitals who spoke on "Stigma and Support: Mental Health in the Police Force", and Nidhibala Athokpam, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, who addressed "Understanding Stress and Psychological First Aid" .
The programme focused on building awareness, reducing stigma, and strengthening the capacity of the police force to manage stress and mental health challenges in the course of their duties.
Dr Meesha Haorongbam addressed the stigma associated with mental health in the police force and highlighted the importance of a supportive system, while Nidhibala Athokpam spoke about understanding stress, the application of psychological first aid, and guided participants through grounding techniques and exercises.
