Imphal, April 24 2009: Focusing mainly on proper utilisation of fund received from different Sub Public Health Centres, PHC Somdal (24X7) has organised a one-day orientation programme at Somdal village on the 8th of April.

Participated by ANM/GNM and members of ASHA under PHC Somdal, the event was marked successful with the Asst.

financial consultant of Ukhrul Block, S Songachan as its resource person.

After discussing minutely on areas like fund management, record keeping, management of cash book and ledger handling, the participants expressed that their doubts have been cleared and that they could now carry on the works of NRHM efficiently.

Speaking on the occasion, Songachan hailed the sincere and honest service of Dr R Ningsang MOIc and his team members.

He however expressed his regret over lack of infrastructures in PHC Somdal and conveyed that authorities concerned should come forward to construct toilets and generator room, improve labour and delivery room so that he said, the centre could be upgraded to Community Health Centre.

Highlighting the structure and functions of PHC Somdal, the finance consultant said, there are at present five sub-centres with each village health committee and 22 village health and sanitation committees in different villages under the PHC.

Among other problems that have stumbled the smooth functioning of the centre, the grievances faced by ASHA members whose services are being utilised in times of immunisation and delivery cases, and observance of village health day were taken note of during the programme.

While expressing his hope to push the vision of NRHM through, especially with the service of ASHA members, Songachan has appealed the help of State Government to improve the facilities currently provided to ASHA members and others involved in the functioning of NRHM.
