Free medical camp held at Tekcham to aid ethnic violence affected people

A one day free medical camp was held at Tekcham in Thoubal district organized by the Shri Suvakumar Memorial Trust in collaboration with the Wangjing Women and Girls Society (WWAGS) and United Club Tekcham.
The initiative aimed to provide free medical assistance to individuals affected by the ongoing ethnic violence in the State, particularly those unable to afford or have access to healthcare services.
The camp witnessed the voluntary participation of renowned medical professionals, including Dr Clinton Lourembam, Dr Gunajit Sharma, Dr Naobicha Soram, Dr Roshan Ngangbam and Dr Shrinivas Potshangbam who offered their expertise and services to the community.
The doctors provided consultations, treatments, and free medicines to over 106 individuals, addressing a range of health concerns.
Umeshwori Thongam, MD of Shri Suvakumar Singh Memorial Trust said that the primary goal of the health camp was to bring healthcare to those who have been deeply impacted by the violence.
WWAGS president, Bala Leima stated that the representatives of WWAGS, which operates seven senior citizen homes in the State, noted the urgency of such outreach programs to facilitate medical facilities for the residents and families who have been struggling to access healthcare services.
Local residents expressed their gratitude to the organizers and the medical team for organising such an initiative.
In this tough time, this camp has given us hope and care that we desperately need," said one of the beneficiaries.
