Imphal, August 23 2024:
The NH-37 Compensation Left Out Properties Land & Structures Owner's Association (NCLPLSOA) has cautioned of imposing bandh and blockade along National Highway-37 if the State Government and NHIDCL fail to make budgetary provision to compensate the 'genuinely' left out beneficiaries for the widening of National Highway 37 from Khongsang to Kambiron under Nungba Sub-Division by August 31 .
The association, in a statement, said that many owners of structures and standing properties affected by the project along NH-37 were left out during the assessment carried out at Kambiron, Nungba, Rongdai, Rengpang and Khongsang in 2015 .
Saying that several complaints have been raised to relevant authorities such as NHIDCL, District Collector (LA), Noney and the State Government over the issue, the association added that the District Collector, accordingly, issued an order on September 26, 2023 to carry out a joint survey from October 4 to 6 and assess the left out structures and standing properties.
The survey was carried out by representatives of the affected villages and officials of NHIDCL and Government Departments, it added.
The association further said that the survey team in consultation with surveyors deputed by NHIDCL identified the standing properties which are likely to be affected by the road construction work and value assessment of the properties was done by the relevant departments and the same was submitted to the offices of the District Collector and General Manager of NHIDCL, Noney.
Saying that the report of the joint survey was also submitted to the State Government and NHIDCL by the Deputy Commissioner, the association added that no positive response, however, has come from the Government and NHIDCL till today.
Urging both NHIDCL and the State Government to make budgetary provision to compensate the left out benefeciaries from Khongsang to Kambiron under Nungba Sub-Division, the association said that they will launch agitations including bandh and blockade if their demand is not entertained by August 31 .
