Imphal, April 23 2026:
Candlelight vigils were held today in different parts of Imphal to mourn and honour the victims of violence in Tronglaobi and TM Kasom.
Kakhulong Mathenmei, Kakhulong Women's Society and Kakhulong Youths' Committee (KYC) jointly organised a candlelight vigil today at the premises of KYC condemning the brutal killings.
As per a press release, residents of the area gathered in solidarity to mourn the victims and express deep concern over the ongoing unrest.
The organisations strongly denounced the inhumane acts and appealed for peace, unity and restoration of normalcy in the State.
They also urged the authorities to take swift and strict legal action against those responsible for the deadly incidents.
All Naga Students' Association Manipur and Naga Peoples' Union, Imphal (NPUI) also hosted a candlelight vigil at Mao Market in Dewlahland in honour of Chinaoshang Shokwungnao and Yaruingam Vashum who were killed in the deadly ambush.
Similarly, locals lit candles and observed a minute of silence at Namthanlong (Muji Khul) gate to pay their respects and offer prayers for the innocent souls to rest in peace.
Speaking in this connection, Ashimlu Remmei, president, Namthanlong Women's Society, expressed grief over the killing of innocent children and civilians, including the three killed in CRPF firing.
She urged the "Kuki community" to stop such immoral acts, stating that the Almighty will judge them.
Communal acts in a small State like Manipur will not bring any favourable outcome.
"May peace prevail in your thoughts from this day onwards", she added.
