AMWJU summoned

High Court of Manipur has asked All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) to appear before the Court for consideration of imposition of ban on publication/telecast of news relating to economic blockade/bandh by print and electronic media.
AMWJU is the respondent number 10 of a PIL case filed in the Court.
Hearing of the case was held before a full bench of the Court comprising of Chief Justice Rakesh Ranjan Prasad, Justice N Kotiswar and Justice N Nobin today.
In its order, the Court stated that though economic blockade which was put in at the instance of UNC has been lifted a couple of days back, the Court is required to continue with the hearing of the matter so that guidelines/directives be issued to be adhered to by the authorities of the Central/State Government to prevent any body/institution/organisation from putting any economic blockade in future and to take actions in terms of the guidelines to be laid down against the erring person.
Counsels of the petitioner, A Romenkumar, I Lalitkumar and Kh Mani submitted before the Court that they would be placing their suggestions in this respect.
