SLNA Manipur launches Watershed Mahotsav

The State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) for Watershed Management, Manipur has launched the Watershed Mahotsav as a part of Nation-wide campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana- Watershed Development Component 2.0 (WDC-PMKSY 2.0) .
As per a release issued by SLNA Manipur, the campaign aims to foster community participation in watershed development and sustainability.
Dr RK Radhesana Devi, Chief Executive Officer, SLNA Manipur launched the campaign in the presence of Dr RK Sunita Devi, Additional CEO, SLNA Manipur and Ngangbam Rajesh Singh, Senior Finance Officer, SLNA Manipur.
Soma Laishram, popular actress and social media influencer, also attended the event as a special invitee.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr RK Radhesana emphasized the urgent need for soil and water conservation through the active involvement of all stakeholders.
She encouraged the participants to undertake diverse activities and events during the campaign in the project sites, including Bhoomi poojan of the new works, inauguration of completed works, cleanliness drive and tree plantation.
Besides, a State social media competition on reel making and photography was also launched as part of the campaign.
Four short reels of duration 30-60 seconds will be selected-Two reels related to Water Harvesting Structures created under PMKSY WDC, 1 reel related to Water Harvesting Structures in other similar State/Central schemes, and 1 reel on agro-forestry/ horticulture activities.
A photography competition on Water Harvesting Structure developed under PMKSY WDC will also be conducted.

The ceremony was attended by district officials of PMKSY WDC 2.0, as well as members of SHGs, User Groups, Farmer Producer Organisation, Community Based Organisation and Watershed Committees.
