Imphal, November 21 2024:
Imagi Meira has blamed MLAs/Ministers for dividing the people in the valley.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata said that the people stormed the residences of some MLAs/Ministers on November 16 as they were overwhelmed by anger and disappointment at the Government's inaction against the cold blooded and barbaric murder of three children including an eight month old baby and three women by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists.
Appealing to the Government to put on hold its move to register FIRs and arrest people involved in storming the legislators' houses, Sujata warned that the situation will only aggravate if the Government continues with the same move.
Notably, houses of several MLAs and Ministers were stormed by large mobs after the bodies of three women and three children who were abducted by armed groups were found floating in Jiri and Barak Rivers.
The people including those who have already been arrested, stormed the legislators' houses as they were overwhelmed by a strong sense of resentment against the Government's abject failure to protect innocent women and children, she said.
She asserted that it's time for the Government, village volunteers and the people to come together and work as one in the interest of the State.
She also called upon all the people to see that the MLAs, barring the Kuki-Zo MLAs, hold a special session of the State Assembly and adopt a concrete and effective resolution to bring the crisis to an end.
She further urged all the legislators to discharge their duties and responsibilities wholeheartedly.
Instead of taking decisions in groups, all the legislators must adopt a common resolution to protect Manipur and bring the crisis to an end, she added.
