MAMPAL reacts to Tronglaobi JAC's statememt

Imphal, April 21 2026 : The Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (MAMPAL) has reacted to the statement made by Tronglaobi JAC denying any connection with the ongoing 5-day Statewide total shutdown calling it quite "unfortunate" .

Speaking to the media at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club today, MAMPAL president Konjengbam Padmabati asserted that the shutdown was announced on April 18 during a press conference attended by representatives of Tronglaobi JAC, CSOs and the bereaved family at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai.

She expressed doubt about there being a political hand behind the statement made by the JAC yesterday disavowing any relation with the 5-day shutdown.

Or it may be the result of a scheme by certain individuals, she said.

The shutdown was called after a resolution was collectively taken to bring justice in the case of the Tronglaobi killings.

The JAC should act in consideration of the people's sentiments, keeping aside any personal interests or gains.

The JAC's statement cannot quell the people's movement for justice, she asserted.
