Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup and Leimarembi Induprabha Statue Installation Committee Binakandi II, Cachar, Assam honoured National Awardee Thoidingjam Tombi at the latter's residence at Khagempalli Panthak in Imphal West today.
The National Awardee was presented with simple gifts in recognition of his efforts and contributions to install a statue dedicated to Leimarembi Induprabha.
Speaking in this connection, Thoidingjam Tombi stressed on the need for people to learn about the story of Leimarembi Induprabha.
Nando Tekcham, president, Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup, said that Leimarembi Induprabha was the daughter of King Modhuchandra.
Despite being married to the King of Cachar, she played a vital role in driving out the Burmese from Manipur and also in saving the Cachar kingdom.
Stating that a statue dedicated to her was unveiled earlier this month at Binakandi II in Cachar, he pointed out that Leimarembi Induprabha's lifestory should be included in the school curriculum.
