Workshop, awareness programme held

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA)organised an academic awareness programme on the theme, "Mayai Kaba Nisana Maheiroi Khunaida Piba Cheitheng" at Manipur Public School, Koirengei, Imphal East districttoday.
The programme was attended by CADA president Hijam Priyokumar, CADA Imphal East District Committee president Seram Tanina and RK Imocha, Principal, Manipur Public School as presidium members.
At the event, CADA secretary general Takhellambam Geetchandra Meetei said that CADA has been conducting awareness campaigns to educate the people especially the youths/students about the menace caused by the widespread use of drugs and other intoxicants.
Expressing concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse in the State, he called for the public's support in the fight against drug abuse to bring forth a healthy and developed society.
Meanwhile, a two-day national workshop on "Manipuri Language Asi Classical Language Amagi Thakta Neinaba" began today at the auditorium of NG Mani College, Khurai Chairenthong.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Department of English, Manipur and IQAC of NG Manipur College under the aegis of State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Government of Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Aheibam Romel Singh, Director, SCERT; Dr W Jibankumar Singh, Principal, NG Mani College; NG Manipur College General Body chairman Ngangkham Chaoba Singh and secretary Sarangthem Somorendro Singh.
Prof N Pramodini Devi, Dean of Humanities; and Prof Kh Dhiren Singh, Department of Linguistics, Assam University also attended the event as resource persons.
