Imphal, December 17 2024:
The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has asked Chief Minister N Biren to cancel his proposed visit to Senapati via Kangpokpi on December 18 .
It has been learned that Chief Minister N Biren Singh is travelling to Senapati via Kangpokpi district on December 18, 2024 to attend "Robvena Ni" as chief guest, the KZC said in a press release.
The KZC acknowledges and respects the celebration of Robvena Ni at Senapati and does not oppose CM Biren Singh's participation in the festival as a guest, it said.
But the council cannot allow N Biren to pass through Kangpokpi by road as this could potentially incite public unrest and lead to attacks on the CM and his entourage, it claimed.
The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) then asked N Biren Singh to cancel his proposed visit to Senapati via Kangpokpi in the best interest of all communities.
Any attempt to breach the "buffer zone" will be dealt with sternly by the Kuki-Zo people, and any unwanted incidents that may occur due to disregard for the "buffer zone" should be the sole responsibility of the N Biren Singh-led Government, it added.
