Jiribam: Aid continues as health camp, motivational session uplift affected families

Many organisations and private citizens continue to extend aid to displaced families from Jiribam sheltering in relief camps.
The All Assam Manipuri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AAMMPAL) Rongpur, Cachar, Assam extended monetary aid to the relief camp at Lakhinagar village, Cachar district, and two relief camps at Jiribam, namely, Bidyanagar Multi Sports Complex and Chingdong Leikai Govt Upper Primary School.
Speaking in this connection, Beni Mishra, president, AAMMPAL stated that the Lup members had pooled their money to offer assistance to the displaced families in their hour of need.
More aid will be provided in the future, Beni added.
Manipuri Youths' Front of Assam (MYFA) advisor Seram Herajit and president Thangjam Brojen were also part of the relief team.
Similarly, 12 youth from Joypur in Cachar also donated essential items to the displaced people sheltering at Lakhinagar village relief camp.
The aid items including rice, lentils, cooking oil, biscuits etc were handed over to representatives of Lakhinagar Development Club and meira paibi groups.
Additionally, in view of the unfortunate situation in Jiribam, social activist and media personality RK Ichan Thoi convened a session at Kalimai Mandop in Jiribam around 1:30 pm today with meira paibis and women from various villages to motivate them and discuss the next plan of action under such circumstances.
During the session which lasted over 2 hours, RK Ichan Thoi urged the Meitei people of Jiribam to unite and work collectively and imbibe patriotic feelings for their motherland in their youth.
Additionally, she appealed people in red zones to remain alert.
Expressing discontent over the restriction on vehicular movement along the Imphal-Jiri Road, she hoped for peace to return and for people to live in harmony once again.
Separately, in continuation of their ongoing health check up camps, a medical camp was conducted at Bidyanagar Multi Purpose Sports Complex Relief Camp in Jiribam around 2:30 pm today.
The medical camp was led by CMO Dr Thiyam Bharat with the assistance of other doctors and nurses.
They provided health check ups to the relief camp inmates.
Speaking in this connection, Dr Thiyam Bharat informed that three medical teams have consistently organised medical camps at four relief camps in Jiribam.
Stating that ailing inmates are given free medicines, he shared that doctors specializing in various fields are available at the health camp.
However, the team still lacks gynaecologists, he added.
