I-Day celebrated at HC

Imphal, August 16 2026:
As celebrated across the country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the High Court of Manipur complex, Imphal on August 15 .
The National Flag was hoisted by Justice M Sundar, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem by a band platoon of the Manipur Police Training College, Pangei in the presence of Justice A Bimol Singh and Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judges of the High Court of Manipur.
A contingent of the 164th Battalion of the BSF presented the Rashtriya Salute.
In his Independence Day address, Justice M Sundar paid tribute to the innumerable men and women whose courage, sacrifice and suffering made India's freedom possible.
Recalling the diverse strands of the freedom struggle across the country, he emphasised that Independence Day is not only an occasion for celebration but also for remembrance, introspection and a reaffirmation of the responsibilities that accompany freedom.
He stressed the need for timely and meaningful justice, efficient judicial administration and continuous improvement in Court procedures and institutional practices.
The event also featured a special canine show by Lilly, canine of the 164th Bn BSF, where she gave salute to the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice handed over a certificate of appreciation to Lilly.
Another significant highlight of the programme was the release of the "Handbook of Legal Terms: Part A � Vol.
2" .
