2 CCpur men arrested for firing on SF

Imphal, April 16 2026: Security forces arrested two individuals from Churachandpur yesterday on charges of opening fire on security personnel.

In a bulletin issued late last night, the police identified the arrested suspects as Ngamkhomang Haokip (36) of S Moldung and Letminthang Haokip (38) of Lhangnom Village.

The two were apprehended from Rengkai in Churachandpur.

According to the police, the duo is linked to a previous incident of firing at security forces near the Sielmat Bridge in Churachandpur, during which one RAF personnel was injured.

Additionally, the police reported that two bunkers were destroyed in Zalengbung village, under the jurisdiction of Litan police station in Ukhrul, yesterday.

In a separate development, the bulletin also mentioned the arrest of one Micheal Abonmai (29) from Aling Khundong Khunkhaiba, Tamenglong.

He was detained from Sekmai along with 2.039 kg of opium.

Furthermore, the police informed that Havildar Elangbam Surjit, attached to Kakching CDO, who was arrested on April 13 for his alleged involvement with the KCP (Ibungo Ngangom), has been placed under suspension.
