Assam Police on Friday busted three hideouts of Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (Multa) and one hideout of Manipur based Peoples United Liberation Front (Pulf) militants in two different districts of Assam.
The Guwahati police on Friday morning busted a hideout of Manipur based Peoples' United Liberation Front (Pulf) in Guwahati and arrested two persons including a woman for their links with the outfit.
''The arrested woman Noorsena is suspected to be the wife of the finance secretary of the Pulf and the other arrested person is identified to be Zakir Hussain,'' police said and added that one 9 mm pistol was also recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, in the Dhubri district of Lower Assam the police conducted three raids since Thursday evening and apprehended seven members of banned the Multa.
Dhubri district Superintendent of Police PS Mahanta said that one pistol, two hand bombs, 11 rounds of ammunition including live ammunition of AK series and huge amount of raw material used in making bombs were recovered from the arrested militants.
''We had conducted some raids in and around the district following a tip off and apprehended three Multa cadres from Gouripur area in the district,'' he said, adding that later two cadres was arrested from Chapar area and another two cadres were apprehended from Gouripur area.
''Interrogation is on and we are yet to find out their motives.
However, the recovery of the ammunition indicated that the militants had plans to carry out subversive activities across the State,'' said the Superintendent of Police.
The Dhubri district, which shares huge International border with Bangladesh has off late become a hub of Islamic militants.
