78th Manipur Independence Day: Celebrations held

The 78th Independence Day of Manipur was celebrated in various areas of the State today with the hoisting of flags bearing the emblem of Ibudhou Pakhangba.
Notably, August 14 commemorates the day when Manipur was freed from the oppressive British rule in 1947.All Thoubal District United Clubs Organisation (ATDUCO) organised the 78th Manipur Independence Day celebration under the supervision of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) at Ukhongshang Mayai Leikai Meirapaibi Shanglen today.
The event was attended by W Maipak, president, Khunnai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL); M Babutombi, vice-president, ATDUCO; Kh Chaobi Devi, meira paibi leader; K Hemolata Devi, Councillor, Ukhongshang Ward No 8; M Sanjukumar, representative, NEEPC and Th Amutombi, meira paibi leader.
Noni Arambam, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, DMU was present as spokesperson.
Charangpat Maning Khongjawangma Nupi Lamjing Lup celebrated the day and similar celebrations were reportedly held at Heirok, Wangjing, Salungfam, Waithou and Langathel.
On the occasion, Kekru Yairi Club Yairipok (KYCY) hoisted the Manipur flag at their office during the celebration which was attended by the Club president, secretary and other notable office bearers.
Khangabok Joint Coordinating Committee also celebrated the 78th Manipur Independence Day with the hoisting of the flag bearing the crest of Ibudhou Pakhangba.
The celebration was kicked off with a presentation of "Sana Leibak Manipur" and a 2-minute silence was observed to honour the martyrs who laid down their lives in the ongoing Manipur crisis.
Additionally, Kshetri Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup in association with Kshetri Leikai Apunba Semgat Sagat Lup solemnized the Manipur Independence Day celebration 2024 at Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai today.
The event was attended by Waikhom Maipak, president, KHUKAMPAL; Kshetrimayum Tampha, president KWMPL; Waikhom Thambou, president, KASSL; Puyam Jote, Councillor, Ward No 3; Jotin Waikhom, convenor, Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup; Ak Chitreshwori, secretary, KHUKAMPAL; Chanambam Jatra Singh, Lai Selungba; Lourembam Sanatomba, secretary, UFO and Nongthombam Biren, president, 18-Clubs Thoubal Waithou to Thoubal Khunou.
During the event, the valour of the fallen ancestors in the course of the Anglo Manipuri War of 1891 were recalled.
The gathering shouted slogans to the tune of "Long live Kangleipak" and observed a 2-minute silence to pay their respects to the fallen heroes.
Kakching District United Club Organisation (KADUCO) in collaboration with Manipur Students Federation (MSF) organised the 78th Independence Day of Manipur today at Lamjing Meira Club Community Hall at Hiyanglam Waikhom Leikai.
