Imphal, May 01 2009: Atleast five underground activists have been arrested by th security personnel from different parts of the State in the last four days. The arrested underground activists include two each of KCP and PREPAK and one of PULF.

According to a statement issued by Additional SP of Thoubal District Jogeshchandra Haobijam, on receipt of reliable information about the presence of valley based UG cadres in the general areas of Thoubal, a combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 34 Assam Rifles conducted frisking and checking of the suspected persons in different locations today.

At about, 9.30 am, two cadres of KCP later identified as Md Salim alias Alam alias Raj (29) s/l Md Ashique Ali of Sangaiyumpham Cherapur and Md Ziyaul Haque alias Moirang (24) /o Md Yakub Ali alias Mani of Sangaiyumpham Cherapur were arrested from Athokpam Bazar along National Highway 39 .

On questioning, they disclosed that they are active members of KCP and working in he finance section of the outfit, the Addl SP informed, adding that three receipt memos labelled as 'The All Kangleipak Students' Union (AKSU), Kangla' were recovered from the right side trouser pocket of Md Salim.

In another statement, the Additional SP also conveyed about the arrest of an active member of PULF (Umar Farooque) faction by a combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 34 Assam Rifles during frisking and checking of suspected persons in and around Sora area at around 5.30 pm yesterday.

Identifying the arrested UG cadre as Md Ramijuddin Shah alias Ramji (28) s/o Md Jallaruddin of Sora Mamang Leikai, the Additional SP informed that on questioning, the individual disclosed that he is the S/S private secretary of PULF (Umar Farooque) and presently looking after the activities of his organisation.

On the other hand, Superintendent of Police of Imphal East District Th Radheshyam Singh in a delayed statement informed about the arrest of two PREPAK cadres by a combined team of Imphal East Police Commandos and personnel of 28 Assam Rifles from Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar at around 8 am of May 9.Identifying the arrested PREPAK cadres as Maimom Imu alias Chitaranjan Singh (25) s/o M Tomchou Singh of Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar and Takhellambam Sanayaima Singh (27) s/o T Kumar Singh of Bashikhong Bazar, the SP further informed that on verification, Maimom Imu disclosed that he joined PREPAK in December 2008 through one S/S Lt Terakaba alias Sunil while Takhellambam Sanayaima Singh disclosed that he joined PREPAK in January, 2009 through one S/S Lt Terakaba alias Sunil and they are involved in extorting huge amount of money from shopkeepers, oil stations, pharmacies, restaurants, etc.
