Imphal, September 11 2025:
The Imagi Meira, Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup and People's Progressive Alliance Manipur have submitted a three point memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar to officially announce free movement along the National Highways during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Manipur.
The three demands raised by these organisations are to officially announce free movement along the National Highways, issue an order to resettle the internally displaced people (IDPs) to their native villages and to withdraw the controversial Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement which was recently extended for a year.
A similar memorandum was also submitted to BJP Manipur unit president A Sharda Devi.
Speaking to the media after submitting the memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata said that the Prime Minister should personally announce unrestricted movement along highways during his upcoming visit to Manipur.
She also said that they have urged the Prime Minister, through the memorandum, to order resettlement of the IDPs who have been living in relief camps for nearly two and a half years and withdrawal of the SoO agreement.
Expressing disappointment that the Prime Minister has remained silent on the Manipur crisis and is coming to the State only for a few hours after a prolonged absence despite the gravity of the situation here, Sujata urged the Prime Minister to address their three key demands during his brief visit.
She said that they along with Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup and People's Progressive Alliance Manipur have been staging a sit in protest raising the three demands.
The memorandum was submitted on the seventh day of the protest, she said.
