PREPAK shares thought on Athoubasing Gi Numit

Imphal, November 09 2022: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has offered tributes to all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the 'freedom struggle' of Manipur on the eve of Athoubasing Gi Numit.

In a press release signed by its charge-de-affairs', publicity and propaganda LeibaakNgakpa Luwang, PREPAK said that the outfit along with its armed wing Red Army will observe Athoubasing Gi Numit along with the people on November 12, 2022 to remember those who were killed in the movement being carried out to regain the lost sovereignty of Manipur.

The outfit said that they have been observing the significant day since November 12, 1979 to recollect the contributions of its cadres Ayekpam Dhiren @ Angam from Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai; Phurailatpam Kabikanta @ Leimu @ Leingam Sharma from Sagolband Meino Leirak; Pukhrambam Gambhir Singh from Singjamei Makha Naorem Leikai who were killed by the combined forces of CRPF and Manipur Police during an attack at its transit camp on November 12, 1978; its leader RK Tulachandra @ Loyataba who was killed by security personnel posted at Kabowakching Sugar Factory on November 12, 1985 and all other martyrs.

PREPAK appealed to all the people of Manipur to refrain from holding any festivities on the day and light candles in memory of the martyrs.

Alleging that India has been suppressing the people of Manipur since the last 73 years or so without giving any taste of life to 'our people', the proscribed outfit alleged that the democracy of India has many lapses and it only encourages corruption and killing of the innocents.

Continuing that India will break into pieces one day or the other as every State has their own issues, the PREPAK claimed that those waging against India will surely emerge victorious one day and regain their sovereignty.

Recalling the statement given Lt General George S Patton of the US Army on June 5 1944 before attacking the Nazi forces under an operation code name "Over Lord" in France which roughly states that war are won by making the enemy forces sacrifice their lives for their motherlands, PREPAK said that the views of the commander of the US Army is very relevant even today as war has to be fought by the living.

"The dead can only win a war in a film," it noted.

Saying that the Red Army will continue to fight the 'colonial India' and its security forces to regain the sovereignty of Manipur, the outfit continued that the right to self determination is an inalienable right.

Maintaining that Manipur is an entity which is home to different communities with its own cultural identity, PREPAK alleged that the erstwhile kingdom, unfortunately, was occupied by India on October 15, 1949 .

Saying that no Nations should interfere in the freedom struggle of Manipur, it added that many countries continue to get independence from the colonial States such as Namibia on March 21, 1990 and the Republic of Kosovo on February 17, 2008 to name a few.

"During the last decade of the 20th century, at least 28 Nations got independence," PREPAK said and added that more will get independence in the future.

It also said that a collective effort is needed to liberate Manipur from the hands of India and bring about an egalitarian and a developed society.
