President of Wings of Hope Charitable Trust Lt Col L Manongba (retd) and L Meena (Trustee) have been declared as the unanimous choice of the eminent jury for the "Special category award in service to humanity & society" during the 8th edition of Radiant Wellness Conclave held at Taj Coromandel, Chennai today under the flagship Radiant Group of Companies.
A press release issued by The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust president Lieutenant Colonel L Manogba (retd) said that the Trust which had been working silently for two years in the shadows of the conflict in Manipur has been shortlisted for consideration of an award.
The day-long conclave explored the theme "9 Dimensions of Wellness in an Era of Disruption" .
A line up of eminent speakers Dr Shashi Tharoor, Dr Sriram Nene, Colonel Gopal Karunakaran (retd), Barkha Dutt, Josh Foulger, Nirmala Lakshman, Dr Lilian Jaspar, Padmini Sambasivam, Shyam Sekhar and Dr Sowmiya Anbumani graced the occasion.
This is the 10th foundation year and a one-of-a-kind event held annually at the RWC, it said and added that the programme aims to recognize exceptional innovations in technology, health, environment and special categories of persons or organisations who have contributed to the society and the Nation building efforts.
The function culminated with the announcement and distribution of 'THE' awards to nine recipients by Dr Shashi Tharoor.
The panel of jury consisted of eminent personalities from various fields - Lt Gen PN Ananthanarayana (retd), Rear Admiral George (retd), Dr Sowmiya Anbumani (social activist), MV Muralidharan (educationist & industrialist), Dr Anantha Krishnan (Urologist & Robotics Surgeon), Ponni Oscar (founder of Ponni Oscar & Rahul Architects), Dr Meena Thiagarajan (Paediatricians & Neonatologist at APOLLO Hospital), Dr Ashwin (Global Hospital).
The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust had been working silently for two years in the shadows of the conflict in Manipur and it had been shortlisted for consideration of the award.
The very "silent but impactful work" to help some of the unfortunate victims of Manipur clashes has been recognised by the panelists, it added.
The Trust has contributed immensely by making 58 orphans return to school and in helping their mothers and facilitating 35 widows find alternative means of livelihood through micro home-based business activities.
The Trust has been picked out of 814 candidates from across the country.

Earlier during the Army Day parade at Pune, on January 15, 2025, Lt Col L Manongba (Retd) was awarded the prestigious "Veteran Achiever's Award - 2025 by the Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, it said.
