Deputy Commissioner Thoubal asks platform workers to register on e-Shram portal

The Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal cum Chairman of District e-Governance Society, Ahanthem Subhash has urged the platform workers of the district to register themselves at e-Shram portal during the Special Registration Camps which is being carried out at 223 Common Service Centres across district from April 7 to April 17.The E-Shram Portal is a flagship initiative by the Government of India to support and empower the unorganized workforce, which forms the backbone of the nation's economy.
Launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on 26th August 2021, this portal is designed to create a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), verified and seeded with Aadhaar, enabling the delivery of targeted welfare schemes and benefits.
Speaking to the media persons, Deputy Commissioner Ahanthem Subhash said that after successful registration at e-Shram portal, benefits like accidental insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh for accidental death and Rs 1 lakh for total permanent disability will be covered along with other social security benefits.
He said that platform workers are unorganised workers who are in the field of delivery service, cab drivers, Youtube content creators, online tutors.
He therefore urged the platform workers of the district to register themselves at the portal during the special registration camp by visiting the Common Services Centres, to avail the benefits.
