Foundation stone laid

Along with a public meeting, foundation stone for a Meitei village was laid today near the border town of Moreh.
Foundation stone of the new village christened Kondong Lairemma Leikai was unveiled by former UCM president Konsam Lanngamba.
The new village is located about 4 Kms away from Moreh town towards Imphal.
Speaking at the occasion, Konsam Lanngamba said that the new settlement would benefit people of Moreh, particularly landless families.
He exuded that the new settlement would transform into a beautiful village within five/six months.
Meetei Council Moreh president N Pulindro said that work for establishment of Kondong Lairemma Leikai started way back in 1997 .
He also conveyed gratitude to all those people who helped in making the area suitable for settlement by levelling ground which was earlier a hillock.
Saying that 15 houses have been constructed so far, Pulindro welcomed all landless families to Kondong Lairemma Leikai who wished to settle permanently at Moreh.
They would be given pattas after give years, he added.
Besides Konsam Lanngamba and N Pulindro, the function was also attended by Ima Kondong Lairembi Committee president M Thoiba, SDC Moreh Ph Ibohal, NEC EE Brojen, president of Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh Md Hussain, president of Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup Moreh Kh Keina Leima and Moreh PS Officer in Charge O Doren as presidium members.
The function culminated with a community feast.
