Ishaan app launched

"Ishaan", an application that can translate different languages of the North Eastern States, was launched today at the auditorium of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur, at Mantri-pukhri.
The app was developed by IIIT, Manipur under BHASHINI (Bhasha Interface for India), the National language translation mission.
Addressing the function, Principal Investigator of the project Dr Kishorjit Nongmeikapam said Ishaan was developed by IIIT, Manipur in association with IIIT, Bombay, IIIT Hyderabad, Gauhati University, NIT Silchar and the University of North Bengal.
He said the app can translate between English and Manipuri, Hindi and Manipuri, English and Bodo, English and Nepali, and Assamese and Bodo, among other languages.
He said the app is currently available for Android phones, while work is underway to make it available for iOS devices as well.
