Imphal, July 07 2024:
The Imagi Meira has asked all the MLAs presently staying outside the State to come back within three days and hold an emergency session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata pointed that the State's critical situation demands both the ruling and Opposition MLAs to work collectively, and adopt a common decision.
The Imagi Meira took a resolution on June 30 to appeal to the State Govt to hold an emergency session of the State Assembly.
After taking the single point resolution, members of the Imagi Meira went to RD&PR Minister Yumnam Khemchand and Manipur Legislative Assembly Spea-ker Thokchom Satyabrata, and submitted a memorandum demanding an emergency session of the State Assembly within a short time, Sujata said.
She said that the same memorandum was also submitted to Ministers and MLAs of both the ruling and Opposition parties.
However, it was found that most of the ruling MLAs were out of the State.
"We met Chief Minister N Biren on Saturday, and he assured us that an emergency session of the State Assembly will be held soon", she said.
Asking all the MLAs who are presently outside the State to come back within three days if they are not out for medical treatment, she said that they would be compelled to take a strong decision against them (MLAs) if they fail to return within three days.
