Imphal, May 06: Starting from tomorrow, a two-day long State Consultation on National Policy on Voluntary Sector in Imphal would be held at Ist Bn Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall.

The consultation is to be organised by Voluntary Action Network, India in association with MASS Education, Kolkata.

More than 250 voluntary organisations are expected to take part in the event to explore the possibilities of meaningful partnerships among the voluntary organisations and with the Governor.

Ahead of the consultation, a delegation of Voluntary Action Network, India (VANI) today called on Governor Dr SS Sidhu to appise him of the programme and sought his blessings.

During the half and hour long meeting, Dr Sidhu expressed his pleasure on such an event being organised at Imphal, according to a statement issued by secretary of the Preparatory Committee of the programme.

Science meet, 2008: Science Meet, 2008 would be held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen, Palace Compound for five days starting from May 11 .

The National Council for Science and Technology, Communication of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and the Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) of the Government of Manipur would be jointly organising the science meet.

Announcing this during a press conference at his office chamber today, Commissioner of Science and Technology S Budhachandra said that the event would be held under the theme of 'Understanding planet Earth and trends in ITdevelopment of sustainable rural economy.

To ensure the success of the science meet, National Informatic Centre, Manipur State Unit; Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA); Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre; Department of Computer Science, Manipur University; Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineer; Science Teachers' Forum, Manipur; Manipur Association for the promotion of Science; Manipur Science Communicators' Association and Generation De New Image have been roped in as co-organisers.
