Manipur Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2023 enforced in Thoubal

Thoubal, July 04 2024: Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash announced the official enforcement of the Manipur Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2023 in Thoubal district today.

An awareness programme on the Manipur Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2023 was also conducted at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal.

The event was jointly organised by the District Administration and District Social Welfare Office Thoubal.

On the occasion, the Thoubal DC said that parents and senior citizens across Thoubal district will be able to receive the benefits of the Rules.

Ahanthem Subhash shared that the Rules were drafted by the Manipur Government for the protection and maintenance of parents and senior citizens against mistreatment by their children or families.

Stating that the Rules have been published in the Manipur Gazette, he added that anyone seeking protection under the Rules should file an application with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thoubal and Lilong who will be the presiding officer of the Maintenance Tribunal or the Deputy Commissioner Thoubal who is the presiding officer of the Appellate Tribunal.

During the awareness programme, Nongpok Nganba Salaicha, District Social Welfare Officer spoke in length about the Manipur Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2023 .

The programme was also attended by District Level Officers, senior citizens and important officials from the Police Department.
