Imphal, September 03 2009: In the name of discipline, hostel warden of GE Menthol High School located at Lamphel Tarung Road allegedly thrashed the students so brutally that one of the students reportedly fainted while another fled from the hostel.

A student of class VI, Takhellambam Bishwarjit s/o late Takhellambam Bobo of Lairenkabi Mayai Leikai reportedly fainted after being beaten up by the warden while Thoudam Bidyarani d/o Thoudam Itobi of Tera Urak, a student of class IX fled from the hostel.

Talking to mediapersons in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Takhellambam Bishwarjit and Thoudam Bidyarani informed that the warden identified as Sir Mol also threatened them to be expelled from the school if they told the school principal or the family members about the beating.

Bishwarjit recounted that after returning from the school, he was preparing to sweep the floor of his hostel room on September 1 afternoon when he got into a fight with one of the hostellers who tried to snatch the broom.

At that time, the warden came along and without finding out the reason, started hitting him all over with a stick inserted inside the water hose.

After the seventh lash he lost consciousness and when he came to his senses, he found his friends putting ointment on his injuries.

Similarly, Bidyarani recounted that on August 30 night, she could not answer a question asked by the warden and she was beaten up for that.

The following day, the warden conducted a class test in which she was short of passing by just one mark and beaten up with a stick.

She was again scolded and beaten again while coming back to the hostel.

Because of the beating, she could not sleep the night and in the early morning of September 1, she slipped from the hostel.

Bishwarjit and Bidyarani also informed that other hostellers are also being subjected to similarly ill-treatment by the warden.

Grandmother of Bishwarjit T Radhe and father of Bidyarani Itobi have expressed strongly resentment over the conduct of the warden.
