Yoga session marks NE NSS Fest

The second day of the North East NSS Festival 2025 began with a yoga session held at Dr Kamal Indoor Stadium, Manipur University.
According to a statement issued by Dr Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, MU, the event was attended by around 300 NSS volunteers from various North Eastern States.
Before the formal session commenced, volunteers from Team Manipur led a series of warm-up exercises.
Speaking as the resource person, Dr K Romeo Meitei, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, MU emphasized the importance of yoga, particularly during adolescence and young adulthood, as a means of achieving physical wellbeing, mental clarity, and emotional balance.
He then guided the NSS volunteers through demonstrations of basic yoga asanas.
The session included a variety of poses focused on breathing techniques and body movements, designed to promote flexibility and relaxation without the strain of intense physical activity.
The session concluded with a 10 minute guided meditation, where all participants joined in silent mode.
As a gesture of appreciation, Dr H Suraj Singh, Convenor of the North East NSS Festival 2025, felicitated Dr K Romeo Meitei, acknowledging his valuable contribution to the festival and to the well-being of the participating youth.
As part of the academic sessions at the North East NSS Festival 2025, a special lecture was conducted on "Learning Basic Manipuri Language," aimed at familiarizing NSS volunteers from various North Eastern states with the local Manipuri language.
Adding to the academic segment, a lecture on "Youth & Entrepreneurship" was delivered by Dr Sorokhaibam Keshorjit Singh, Assistant Professor, Institute of Management Studies, MU.
Another lecture on "Plastic Pollution: Issues, Challenges and Solutions" was delivered by Dr Konthoujam Khelchandra Singh, Associate Professor.
