Moreh, March 02 2012:
Denouncing alleged arbitrary arrest of five persons from Moreh town by a team of 9 Assam Rifles on March 1 night and branding two of them as activists of armed groups at the time of handing them to the police, an indefinite bandh of the border town has been enforced from today.
Consequent to the bandh call, all business establishments including small trading outlets remained shut while movement of vehicles in and out of the commercial town remained suspended.
the two persons handed over to Imphal police station have been identified as Oinam Bishorjit Meetei (24) s/o O Rajen of Moreh Ward No 7 and Biren Singh from Nambol Phoijing, but presently residing at Moreh Khunou.
As per contention of Bishorjit's father, a team of 9 Assam Rifles barged into the house at around 10 pm yesterday and apprehended Bishorjit from his bed, some moments after he had returned home from Moreh Hospital.

Inspite of producing documents/receipts of undergoing treatment as an OPD patient at the said Hospital, the AR troops not only disregarded the explanation but tore apart the documents, which the father produced before mediapersons today.
While the bandh came into force under the joint initiative of different women organisations, a public meeting was convened from 5 pm at the premises of Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung complex in which decision was taken to stage a protest rally from 8 am tomorrow.
